26.9%! 27.3%! Suzhou University breaks the efficiency record of perovskite cells
Jun 09, 2025

Recently, the team of Professor Peng Jun and Zhang Xiaohong from Soochow University, in collaboration with the University of New South Wales in Australia and the Baimahu Laboratory in Zhejiang Province, has made a major breakthrough in the field of single-junction perovskite solar cells. The certified steady-state efficiency of the 0.1 square centimeter single-junction perovskite cell they developed reached 27.3%, and the certified steady-state efficiency of the 1 square centimeter single-junction perovskite cell reached 26.9%, both breaking the world record in this area segment and topping the latest internationally authoritative "Solar Cell Efficiency Table" (66th edition).

Previously, the team has achieved a number of key technological breakthroughs, and its interim results have been certified by international authoritative organizations. In February 2025, the team broke through the 27% certified steady-state efficiency of small-area single-junction perovskite solar cells for the first time, and this result was successfully included in the "Highest Solar Cell Research Efficiency Chart" released by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the United States.
